Director Maniratnam has officially made a statement about his next venture.  Innumerous allegations were afloat about Maniratnam’s next venture after ‘Raavan’.  It was also said the movie is titled ‘Pookkadai’.  Manirathnam refuted all the allegations.

Today Maniratnam released a new statement.  He said the movie is to be titled ‘Kadal’ and Karthik’s son Gautam is to be the hero.  Samantha is to be the lead actress of the movie.

Arjun and Mohan Babu’s daughter Lakshmi Manju are to play important roles in the movie.  The music is by AR Rehman. Lyrics are to be written by Vairamuthu and his son Madhan Kaarki.  Cinematography is by Rajiv Menon.

It is being alleged that the movie is a romance story happening in the background of coastal area in South Tamil Nadu.  The pathos of Tamil fishermen and about how they are being harassed by Senegalese Navy is to be cinematized.  But it is not known how far Maniratnam will be honest with regard to that.

It is noteworthy that in his movie ‘Kannathil Muththam Ittaal’ Maniratnam mentioned Eazham war as the trading of weapons by super powers.
