Ravi Varman is an eye-catching cinematographer, but as a director his maiden film
Moscowin Kaveri is a disaster.
Suseenthiran is a director who believes that filmmaking is all about
breaking new grounds, braving new frontiers and building new idioms. He
does not believe in regurgitating old wine.
Pandiraj of Pasanga is back — his second directorial
venture, Vamsam, (U) has released amidst much hype and hoopla. And the
banner and the background of new hero Arulnidhi have made it a
much-expected film.
‘Kalloori Kalangal’ is a forthcoming movie directed
by MA Ramoshiva for producers T Vasudevan, A Sridhar and P Gireesh. The
movie is largely handle by debutants in all areas.
What can one expect when the likes of director Raja and his sibling
'Jayam' Ravi come together? A full-fledged racy commercial entertainer
that never lags anywhere. Living up to their expectations, the brothers
have come out with an engrossing fare in 'Thillalangadi', but only in
parts.
Expectations ran high for 'Baana Kaathadi' as Atharva, son of popular
actor Murali, is making his debut in Kollywood. Thanks to pacy
screenplay and the good performance of the lead cast, the movie directed
by Badri Venkatesh (a national award winner for one of his short
films), ends up as an engrossing fare.
There is nothing new or original in this social action packed film that turns into a soggy and weepy film towards the climax. The story has been told over a hundred times, with various artists and situations.
In an industry driven by superstars, opening weekends and bumper collections, it’s that oddball film that seldom compromises on its intentions for the sake of becoming more box-office friendly.

We can begin by announcing, with great relief, that all the hype is justified. Writer-director Christopher Nolan's first film since
The Dark Knight is a stunningly gorgeous, technically flawless symphony of images and ideas.
Memento, the mystery-in-reverse that put Nolan on the map a decade ago, looks almost quaint by comparison.
As
much as we are stuck with the song-and-dance
routine in our movies, there are
a few
recurring themes those can just
not simply
be done away with.
Welcome back to real solid filmmaking with debutant A Surkunam’s
Kalavani,
undoubtedly one of the finest movies to have emerged out of Kollywood
in recent times.
